PROJECT 1: Material Experience in Architecture: Structural & Architectural Building Material Applications (30% Group)
A group of seven students has been assigned to carry out a detailed case study on a notable building in Kuala Lumpur or Selangor. Their goal is to identify and analyze five architectural materials and two structural materials used in the building. The group will then focus on one specific material that has a notable impact on the user experience. Additionally, they will provide a detailed illustration of the installation process for this material, explaining how it enhances the overall functionality and user experience of the building.
OUTCOME
REFLECTION
In this project, our group conducted a case study on the Bukit Jalil Merdeka Stadium in Kuala Lumpur. We identified and analyzed five architectural materials and two structural materials used in the building, selecting one with a significant impact on user experience for an in-depth study. We also provided detailed installation instructions and explained how this material enhances the building's functionality and user experience. This project deepened my understanding of architectural materials and strengthened my teamwork skills. By applying theory to real-world problems, I improved my professional practice in architecture and realized that learning extends beyond the classroom, requiring continuous application and reflection through practical projects.
INTERPERSONAL SKILL
LIFELONG LEARNING
In this project, I deeply realized the importance of teamwork. Since our project required collaboration among multiple students, I learned how to understand team dynamics and effectively allocate tasks to maximize everyone's strengths. Particularly during the material research and case analysis process, each member contributed their unique perspectives and skills, which not only enhanced the quality of the project but also fostered close cooperation within the team.
Through this project, I learned how to study independently and effectively utilize information resources. During the research process, we not only relied on textbooks but also used various academic journals, online resources, and real-world case studies. This made me realize how important it is for an architecture student to engage in continuous learning and to constantly update their knowledge base.
