REFLECTION
As the semester comes to an end, my architecture journey is halfway through. This semester, I have felt more pressure than ever before. This is because I have heard from seniors and tutors that Architecture Design III would be stricter and more challenging compared to previous semesters.
When I began the first project, I was very nervous, especially since the assignment was related to dance. Having no knowledge of dance, I was initially confused. Fortunately, I was able to collaborate with my team members, and through our teamwork, I understood the goals of the project. I also contributed my skills, particularly in drawing, which is something I am good at. This relates to Interpersonal Skills (TGC 5), particularly understanding team dynamics and mobilizing the power of teams. Through collaboration, we maximized our individual strengths and worked effectively to complete the task.
The second project was particularly interesting to me. We visited a site in Melaka, which helped us better understand the culture and history of the minority community there. This project allowed us to incorporate the stories and experiences of these communities into our designs.
As for the final project, the pressure started to build. After hearing the brief from the lecturer, I began thinking about my design concept and ideas. The greatest challenge during this project was developing my design concept. After the first and second interim reviews, the feedback I received pointed out that my design concept did not seem to connect with the chosen community (the Kristang community), or that my concept was too superficial and lacked depth. However, with the help and consistent feedback from my tutor, Mr. Hazazi, I was able to finalize my design concept. This process involved Thinking and Problem Solving Skills (TGC 3), as I had to think critically and creatively to address the feedback and refine my ideas. His encouragement gave me the confidence to push through and complete the project. Throughout this process, I also learned how to use applications such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Photoshop.
Overall, this semester has been a valuable learning experience, both in terms of practical and digital skills. I am grateful to my team members for their continuous support, which allowed me to improve. Most of all, I am deeply thankful to my tutor for his ongoing guidance and constructive feedback, which helped us successfully complete every task.
