PROJECT 2: Construction Details – Integration with ADII
For this project, I will individually select and study a building in Malaysia or Singapore (built after 2005) that aligns with one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By visiting the site and documenting its design features, I will analyze how the building contributes to a specific SDG target, using diagrams, visuals, and case details to support my findings. The research will explore how architecture can address sustainability challenges tangibly and responsibly, showcasing the building’s alignment with the selected goal through strategies and design approaches. All sources will be properly credited, and APA referencing will be used.
OUTCOME

REFLECTION
This assignment has been a valuable opportunity to explore the intersection of architecture and sustainability through the lens of the Nucleus Tower in Malaysia. By aligning the building with a specific Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), I’ve gained a deeper understanding of how architectural design can contribute to creating sustainable communities. The Nucleus Tower’s energy-efficient features, eco-friendly materials, and innovative design strategies demonstrate how real-world buildings can address environmental and social challenges. Reflecting on this project, I’ve realized the critical role architects play in driving sustainable development and how thoughtful design can support Malaysia’s journey toward achieving the 2030 Agenda.

DICIPLINE AND SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE

CITIZENSHIP AND GLOBAL PERPSECTIVES
This capability is crucial as I apply theoretical knowledge about sustainable design and architecture to analyze the Nucleus Tower’s alignment with a Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). It allows me to understand professional practices and ethical considerations within the field of architecture.
By exploring how the Nucleus Tower addresses global sustainability challenges, I develop an understanding of the building’s impact on civic responsibility and its role in supporting sustainable development. This helps me form informed opinions from a global perspective while considering local community needs.
