REFLECTION

Throughout this module, I have developed a deeper understanding of sustainable living, especially in relation to urban planning and architecture. The lessons and assignments have shown me how theories such as ecomasterplanning, sustainable infrastructure, and disaster resilience can be applied in real-life city contexts. By studying both local and international case studies, I learned how to evaluate a city’s strengths and weaknesses and adapt strategies to make it more livable, inclusive, and environmentally responsible. This process strengthened my discipline-specific knowledge by connecting classroom concepts to practical applications.

The module also challenged me to think critically and creatively when approaching problems. In both assignments, I had to consider complex issues such as climate impacts, social equity, and economic growth while proposing realistic solutions. This improved my thinking and problem-solving skills, as I had to balance innovation with feasibility and justify my ideas using evidence from research.

Working in a group setting further enhanced my interpersonal skills, as collaboration was essential to produce strong outcomes. I learned to listen actively, respect different perspectives, and contribute my strengths while supporting the work of others. Through discussions and feedback sessions, I realized the value of teamwork in developing well rounded, sustainable design proposals. Overall, this module not only improved my technical and creative abilities but also shaped the way I approach design thinking beyond aesthetics to consider how cities can truly serve people and protect the environment for future generations.
